How do I know if I need a repair or just monitoring?
That depends on what you're seeing and how quickly it's progressing. Hairline cracks that haven't changed in years may only need monitoring. Stair-step cracks in brick, doors that no longer latch, floors sloping more than 1 inch per 10 feet, or any crack wider than 1/4 inch all warrant a professional inspection.
